MK7.5 Variant

”When VW doesn’t bring the Golf R Variant to the U.S, you build one.” This is exactly what Andreas Regalado has said and is currently doing with his award winning MK7.

With the help of Juan Ragusa, the owner and operator of Luftechnik, this variant is lowered perfectly on CATuned coilovers and sitting beautifully on 19’’ Work Meister 3-piece L1’s.  In addition to the uniqueness of the wheels, the lips and faces are staggered to give the car a more aggressive look. Oettinger side skirts were also added on to accompany the sleek flowing lines of the car. 

Andreas’s MK7 Variant is definitely an eye catcher when the car is not moving. On the move, it can be difficult to keep up thanks to the “stock motor” that packs a serious punch. The motor is an Ea888 Gen3 1.8T with an Is-38 turbo upgrade (same turbo in Golf R and Audi S3) which is mated to a Wagner Tuning intercooler, Racingline turbo inlet and air filter, and a custom-made in-house charge pipe. All of this induction comes in as easy as it goes out thanks to the custom exhaust which includes CTS turbo downpipe and Magnaflow Hi-Flow Muffler. 

The Volkswagen Golf Variant MK7 which is also known as the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen in the United States and Sportwagon in Canada is the 7th generation of the Volkswagen Golf or as some may call Andreas’s Mk7.5, the Ultimate Grocery Getter.
